Friends

Today's quote: "My father always used to say that, when you die, if you\'ve got five real friends, then you\'ve had a great life." - Lee Iacocca

I hope I don't die soon because I have to admit that I may not have five "real" friends. Although what is a real friend? The trouble with me is that I do too much running to spend a lot of time growing friendships. Plus running makes me tired so when I do see other people I am not always the most exciting person to be with. I am working on it though so if you want to be my friend please be patient with me!

I ran 14m last night which included 8 X 1/2 mile reps in 2m47seconds. This morning I ran 14.5m in 1h44mins.

Speed kills

It is true that speed kills. In distance running, it kills anyone who does not have it. -Brooks Johnson

This morning I ran 8.5 miles at 7m10s pace. 2 months to FLM.

Tonight I have a speed session that'll kill me! And it will kill me it I don't do it!

UK Counties Athletic Union Cross Country (XC) Championships

UK Counties Athletic Union Cross Country (XC) Championships

Good news.

I've been "selected" to run for North Wales again (second time) to run at the UK Counties Athletic Union Cross Country (XC) Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday March 7th 2009. I say "selected" because I was a reserve but others have dropped out.

This will be the most prestigious race I could run in within the UK for XC so I'm nervous. The 4 best from each county/area in the UK will be there.

The website address is:
http://www.uka.org.uk/competitions/uk-cross-challenge/cross-challenge-final/

It will also be filmed live: BSKYB but you'll probably not see me because I'll be in the middle.

2 months, 13 days to FLM

Today's quote: "Well, no athlete respects a big, fat coach who's going to stand there and rest the watch on his stomach." -Arthur Lydiard

I did a good interval session last night. I felt weak but forced the legs to stay tense whilst running which seemed to work. I did 8 X 1/2 mile reps with a 2 mile warm up and a 5 mile warm down. I also ran 8.5 miles in the morning so in all yesterday I did a mighty 20 miles or so. I'm really trying hard for the Marathon.

This morning I ran 14.2 miles in a pace of 7:04. I'm looking forward to my holiday next week and have already planned to run everyday (some days twice).

There will be no computer access on holiday so I will not be blogging next week. But I'll be back!

In work I think I'll come back to more work than I left and all the work that I leave will need to be done first because it will be another week old. No-one else has the capacity to do it.

Bye for now.

Daniel.

"You must realize one thing. In every little village in the world there are great potential champions who only need motivation, development and good exercise evaluation." -Arthur Lydiard

This mornings run was 8 miles. 7:20 pace. I think it was possibly the coldest run of the year or maybe the coldest run I've ever done. Temperature: -3.5 *C. I could tell it was cold when I couldn't open the garden gate (frozen solid)!

How was your run today?

Today's quote: "In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that. "-Anonymous

Last night I ran home from work. It was cold and wet but still I added an extra mile onto the course! This morning I ran 7 miles and tonight I'm at the track for a speed session. It'll be a high mileage week this week. Preparation for the Marathon.

Ran 8.5 this morning. A bit slippery in places but I'm not going to let it stop me. Running home tonight.

Have fun.

Well I went berserk in yesterday's race but didn't win it!I had fun in the boggy XC course though and came a respectable 15th. Hoping to finish in the top 10 next year in this league.

I ran 20 miles this morning in 7:08 pace.

Real athletes run others just play games -Anonymous

Ran 6 last night in the snow at 6:50 pace. Then ran 5 this morning in 7:15 pace.
It is never too snowy to run; but it wouldn't take much not to get into work!

Sunday, 1 February 2009

Snow on the ground this morning. I didn't let it stop me. I still ran 10 miles in 7min pace.
